The pursuit of justice has always been my North Star, and empathy is my chosen path.

Karie has devoted her career to economic and social justice.  Karie has led KLB & Co. (formerly KB Consulting) for the last two decades. In this role — by coaching, consulting and collaborating — Karie has partnered with foundations and nonprofit organizations to promote effective philanthropy and social change.

About me

Karie has a master’s degree in regional planning from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an undergraduate degree in economics from Stanford.  In 2020, Karie received her coaching certification from the Hudson Institute of Coaching. She currently serves as a trustee for Hidden Leaf Foundation, Yoga Dana Foundation, and Reynolds & Brown Corporation.  Karie is a certified yoga instructor through YogaWorks and a certified coach through the Hudson Institute of Coaching.

About my work

In addition to her coaching and consulting work, in 2020, Karie co-founded Senate Circle, a volunteer-run organization that works to elect a diverse platform of lesser-known candidates to the US Senate. From 2015 – 2019, Karie served as the SVP of Grants Programs for Comic Relief USA, where she managed a $40M grants portfolio aimed at alleviating child poverty in the US and across the Global South. Prior to that, Karie served as the Director of Programs for Tides Foundation, a donor-advised grantmaking institution. Previously, she was the Director of Programs for Katalysis North/South Development Partnership and the first Executive Director for International Development Exchange (now Thousand Currents).
